Status of coral reefs of Samoa and recommendations to promote resilience and recovery of coastal ecosystems.

This paper was published to assess coral reef health in Upolu using observations on the two fish species chosen for Tara Pacific and a more “traditional” approach with parameters like coral cover. These data were compared within or outside protected areas to prove the importance of Marine Protected Areas and their effectiveness. 

More importantly, this study proves that even remote locations are strongly affected by Climate change attesting that actions must be taken on a global scale.
