François Olislæger

François Olislæger

Born in 1978 in Liège, Belgium, François Olislaeger graduated from the School of Arts Emil-Cohl graphics in Lyon. He lives and works between Paris and Mexico. Cartoonist, comic strip author and graphic performer, François Olislaeger practices drawing with great freedom. He likes to regularly confront other artistic disciplines such as dance, theater, music or the visual arts. His work as a designer gives rise to exhibitions where comics are presented in volume in three-dimensional spaces. He was the first comic book author to reside at the Villa Medici in 2019. He collaborates with the press since 2003 (Le Monde, Libération, Les Inrockuptibles, Le 1 Hebdo, Beaux-Arts Magazine, etc.) and regularly publishes drawn reports. He is the author of around ten works. Also present in the field of contemporary art, his drawing work has been the subject of several personal and group exhibitions.

His project

By boarding Tara, I suggest making sketchbooks, in the tradition of surveyors like Bonpland or Humboldt, version 2024. It will be a question of noting, drawing, telling through observation sketches, diagrams, comic strips, my sensations, experiences, encounters and scientific information collected during the trip.

What better way to meet others than putting yourself in their place? A scientist goes on the field, samples, analyzes and gives the results of his research through publications. A designer observes, questions, draws inspiration and reproduces his impressions in images. With humor, philosophy and sensitivity.

This notebook could then be published.
