Tara Pacific Expedition’s Atmospheric Measurements of Marine Aerosols across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans: Overview and Preliminary Results.

During the expedition, surface-water and atmospheric parameters are continuously measured. Marine aerosols size and distribution are measured to evaluate their influence on the Ocean. This paper presents a new dataset from the Tara Pacific expedition. This data must then be compared to surface-water and biomass measurement to assess their potential interactions with the Atmosphere.

The protocol presented is crucial as the same atmospheric measurement setting will stay as a permanent component of future Tara missions. With such measurements we expect to better understand feedbacks between marine ecology, mixed layer and microlayer properties, aerosols, and clouds, in different natural and anthropogenic environments.
